Project WIKO addresses the critical need for innovative digital health education in autoimmune diseases (AID) by engaging patients, their families, and the broader public in research-related exchange and the communication of clinical advances. It develops the IMMUNOVERSE, a digital platform combining health games and immersive formats to communicate CASCAID’s research in an accessible and participatory way.
The IMMUNOVERSE pursues three goals:
First, we create health games that make complex molecular processes understandable and enable users to explore disease mechanisms and innovative therapies such as CAR T-cells, regulatory T-cells, and T-cell engagers.
Second, we investigate how these formats influence patients’ motivation to seek information, engage with treatment, and adhere to therapy, while using the IMMUNOVERSE as a platform their effects on social dynamics, and knowledge acquisition.
Lastly, the IMMUNOVERSE fosters dialog between patients, the public, and researchers.
